Drug Roundup Continues in Lowndes

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (Press Release) — The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit has made more arrests resulting from the yearlong investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics in Lowndes County and Columbus.

As the investigation has continued over the last couple of weeks the Narcotics Unit arrested 12 individuals with a total of twenty three arrest warrants for the sale and possession of illegal narcotics.

The following subjects were arrested and transported to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. The controlled substances involved in this investigation includes marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and prescription medications to include oxycodone and hydrocodone. This is still an ongoing investigation and more arrests are expected:

Michael Brewer,26, of Columbus, two counts of sale of a controlled substance and one count sale of marijuana.

Selvin Richardson,26, of Columbus, two counts sale of cocaine.

Zachory Wood, 18, of Columbus, two counts sale of a controlled substance.

Karen Wood, 52, of Columbus, one count possession of methamphetamine.

James York, 40, of Columbus, two counts sale of a controlled substance.

William Latham, 30, of Columbus, two counts sale of a controlled substance.

Justin Hairston, 24, of Columbus, two counts sale of cocaine and one count sale of controlled substance.

Malcolm Turner, 25, of Columbus, two counts sale of marijuana.

Mitchell Bradford, 21, of Columbus, one count sale of marijuana and two counts sale of a controlled substance.

Jameale Willis, 23, of Columbus, possession of marijuana more than one ounce with intent to distribute.

Keyon Bankhead, 26, of Columbus, possession of marijuana more than one ounce with intent to distribute.

Joshua Chitwood, 31, of Columbus, one count possession of a controlled substance.
