DSU President Recovering From Fall

CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) – Delta State University President Bill LaForge is recuperating with family in Virginia after suffering a head injury while vacationing over the July 4 holiday.

DSU spokeswoman Michelle Roberts says LaForge suffered a subdural hematoma, a gathering of blood on the brain’s surface, while at a South Carolina beach with family. Roberts says while LaForge’s injury was not major, LaForge went to a local hospital when he continued to suffer headaches and pain.

Details of the injury were not released.

LaForge was released from the hospital and taken by family Saturday to Virginia where he will spend the next two weeks recovering.

Roberts says LaForge is scheduled to visit with doctors’ next week.

LaForge became Delta State president this year. He is a former Washington, D.C., lobbyist.
