TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A Tupelo Boy Scout is teaming up with the Salvation Army to get winter clothing into the hands of the needy, in order to earn the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.

14-year old Matthew Pugh and his fellow scout Riley Morgan manned a booth at the entrance to the food court at the Mall at Barnes Crossing.

Pugh’s project is called “Winter Warmup” where he is encouraging shoppers to buy an inexpensive clothing item and then donate it, so it can be distributed by the Salvation Army to those in need.

Pugh says his Eagle Scout project is about demonstrating leadership.
