COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s an anniversary 100 years in the making.

Way back in 1912, a young man earned the very first Eagle Scout Award.

It’s the highest rank, there is, for a Boy Scout.

To achieve it, scouts must earn at least 21 merit badges, serve in a leadership position in the troop, and complete a service project.

This year, 24 young men, in the Pushmataha Area Council, have earned the rank.

Monday (11-5) night, they joined with Eagle Scouts from as far back as the 1940’s to celebrate their achievement and scouting’s rich tradition.

M-U-W President Dr. Jim Borsig, himself an Eagle Scout,  oversaw the event at the Hogarth Dining Center.

Congressman Alan Nunnelee, the proud father of 2 Eagle Scouts, was the guest speaker.
