ECCC Plans July 11 Orientation Session

DECATUR, Miss. (Press Release) — New and transfer students who plan to attend the 2014 fall semester at East Central Community College and have not registered for classes are encouraged to attend registration/orientation activities on July 11 on the Decatur campus.

Randall Lee, vice president for student services, said students may register anytime between 8 a.m. and noon.

During orientation, students complete their class schedules, have photos made for identification badges and the College yearbook, apply for a parking decal (must provide car tag number) and complete the online orientation process.

Prior to attending the orientation session, students should have the following information on file in the Office of Admissions and Records: (1) a completed ECCC Application for Admission (www.eccc.edu); (2) ACT or COMPASS scores, which will be used for placement in English and mathematics courses; and (3) high school and/or college transcript. Transfer students must have all college transcripts on file before they can register.

Students who have completed the admissions process and have been accepted for admission, should receive a letter instructing them how to proceed on the day of registration/orientation.

Students who have not completed the application process are welcome to attend if they have the ACT or COMPASS score report and college transcripts turned in, and can begin the process in the Eddie M. Smith Student Union, located on the west side of campus.

Students who have not taken either the ACT or COMPASS test should be prepared to take the placement assessment at 8:30 a.m. on the day of registration or arrange to take it another day. The cost is $20. Call or email 601-635-6346 or mboulton@eccc.edu to reserve a seat.

A final orientation session is scheduled August 8.

Fall day and evening classes begin August 18.
