Egg Bowl Tailgating Experience

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-Today is the day many college football fans throughout the state have been waiting for, The Egg Bowl.

Bitter in state rivals Ole Miss And Mississippi State are just minutes away from kick off to see who will get bragging rights as the state’s top team.

But with any game of course comes tailgating.

 

When Ole Miss fans.

And Mississippi State Fans gather on common ground, two words come to mind, EGG BOWL.

“Aww man it’s the one game you live for,” MSU fan Jeff Umfress said.

“This game is when we get to decide who’s better than who,” Ole Miss fan  Justin Sylvester said.

“Its about neighbors getting together, getting a little competition, a little friendly competition most of the time,” diehard MSU fan Wes Stokes said.

Bt that friendly competitions tends to heat up on game day.

“For the week we cut ties,” Stokes said.

Epecially in a divided house hold.

“I’ll be darned if I didn’t marry an Ole Miss fan, we we’re a house divided, it’s backwards at my house,” Umfress said.

Jeff Umfress has been coming to the egg bowl for over 20 years, and he says things will get interesting once kick off approaches.

“It is intense, we get these serious looks, you know, where we don’t look up, and you know, that’s just part of it,” he said.

From the food, and games, the one thing both sides can agree on, is the Egg Bowl experience definitely brings out a good time.

“Oh yea, it’s definitely a can’t miss event,” Sylvester said.

“The power, the energy, that goes through the station no matter where you are, it doesn’t get any better, it’s the most electrifying thing you’ll ever be a part of,” Umfress said.
Today, marks the 112th time the two teams have faced each other.
