Fulton Cracking Down on Overdue Fines

FULTON, Miss. (WCBI) — If you’ve got an unpaid court fine in Fulton, you’d better pay up. Or that knowck on the door may be a police officer.

The city has about $300,00 in unpaid fines and police and court officials have set a Nov. 15. deadline for people to make arrangements to pay or do community service work. After that, police will start making arrests, putting people in jail and suspending driver’s licenses.

Police say they know some of the fines will never be collected but getting some of the money helps law-abiding taxpayers.

Fulton is the latest town in the region to try different methods to collect old fines.
