Extension Service Offers Forage Program at MSU

STARKVILLE, Miss. (Press Release) — Area forage and livestock producers are invited to Mississippi State University July 10 for half-day program on warm-season forage production.

Registration for the Warm-Season Forage Tour begins at 8:30 a.m., and the tour lasts from 9 a.m. to noon at the Henry H. Leveck Animal Research Farm at MSU. It is sponsored by the MSU Extension Service Forage Program and the Oktibbeha County Extension office.

Topics will include native grasses, annual warm-season legumes and grasses, and bermudagrass and bahiagrass varieties. The program will also feature nitrogen fertility demonstrations. Participants will get to see ongoing MSU warm-season forage research and variety testing.

The event is free and includes lunch, but registration is encouraged. Following the forage tour, a Hay Day will be held. Local hay equipment dealers will demonstrate new technologies in hay equipment.
