Families, Police Seek Info on Missing Women

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Two Columbus-area families are desperate for news about two missing loved ones — one missing for almost four months and one for almost five years.

Her family tells WCBI they haven’t seen 14-year-old Selivannia Deloach in nearly four months. Her aunt says it’s hard for her to see kids going to school each morning because it reminds her of her niece who she desperately wants to see come home again.

“I’m very concerned because I want her home so she can go to school,” Katie Hairston said.

She remembers the last time she saw Selivannia.

“It was April 26 or 27 and she went to school and by the time she got out of school I hadn’t made it home yet and my husband said she got in a conflict with a boy on the bus and she was running down the street to him to fight the boy and this lady came along. Picked her up. And I haven’t seen her since then,” Hairston said.

Her family says they have no idea where she is, but Hairston says Selivannia did reach out to her once, giving her a glimpse of hope that she’s still alive.

“I heard from her on Facebook and she said she was okay. But I haven’t heard anything in the last couple of weeks,” Hairston said.

And it’s those few weeks that have been the hardest.

“I just want to say I miss her and I hope she’s safe and I want her home. She’s got a family that loves her. I really love her and I want her home,” Hairston said.

Meanwhile, another area family continues to hope for word on a Columbus woman who has been missing almost five years.

Shalunda Matthews was last seen at a home on Sixth Avenue North in Columbus in October 2008. She was 33 at the time and sometimes went by the nickname “Wee Wee.”

At the time, she had short hair and weighed about 125 pounds.

Anyone with information on either woman is asked to call the Columbus Police Department.
