LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Lowndes County family loses everything in a Friday morning house fire.

Howard Cook, his wife Lisa Dunlap and his daughter Brandy Cook were at a granddaughter’s kindergarten graduation when a neighbor spotted the house they rented on Hughes Road on fire about 9:15 a.m. Friday.

The family rushed home and tried to kick in a door to save their two pet dogs and any valuables, but the fire was too hot.

The one-story wood frame and shingle home was quickly fully involved.

The family did not have insurance. They think the cause may have been electrical.

Anyone wishing to help can contact the Lowndes County chapter of the American Red Cross at 662-328-5710.
