WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s been 15 years now since a West Point woman disappeared.

Family members know as little about her whereabouts now as they did when she vanished July 7, 2000.

With each passing day the pain of her disappearance grows worse.

All this West Point mother and daughter can do is hold onto pictures of their loved one.

WCBI spoke with the missing woman’s sister in 2012 who then voiced frustration about their dilemma.

“Its been hard, its been really hard. You know my mother, well my mother have a nerve condition you know anyway. And with this happening you know it just made it worse,” said Annie Barnes, the missing woman’s sister.

The family of Jessie Barnes, who seems to have vanished into thin air that summer day from the White Station Community, still have a lot of unanswered questions.

“Have ever had a loved one that’s missing in their life, even a loved one that has just passed and gone on, it hurts. You know its a hurtful thing,” said Barnes.

And that hurt goes deep, seeing the missing woman left behind a three year old toddler, that baby is graduates from high this school year.

“She would love to know what happened to her mother, she would love to know what happened to her mother,” said Barnes.

And so with the passing of time a family is still at their wits end, praying as this West Point missing cold case gets a year colder.

“So, I just want to let anyone know in the community and nationwide. If anyone know anything that has happened with my sister, I would love, we would love as a family would love to get some closure,” said Annie Barnes.

Clay County Sheriff investigators have even been in touch with a cold case television series as they chase the few leads being worked on.
