Family Receives Brand New Home

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- The Northeast Mississippi Habitat for Humanity granted a local family with a brand new home earlier this evening in Tupelo.   After seven long days and countless hours of hard work being put in to build the home, The Crayton family were given the keys to their new home.

“I cant even, I don’t even have words,” new home owner Christophy Crayton said.

An emotional Crayton is left speechless after receiving the keys to his brand new home.

“All I can say about this is, God’s grace and his mercy and his favor is so awesome,” he said.

Friends and family came out to show their support for the Crayton family and their new home.

The home owners were put through a process where they had to earn “equity hours” by helping build on other peoples homes before they could start on theirs.

The Home was built in one week with help from members of First United Methodist church.

More than twenty volunteers came out each day and put in nearly 15 hours a day to help finish the home.

“I love them all for just giving their time and their effort, their blood, sweat and tears,” Crayton said.

“It’s an overwhelming feeling knowing that we’re changing somebody’s life and they couldn’t feel more blessed about it,” Habitat for Humanity Board Member Katie Wright said.

The new brand new home includes 3 bed rooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen, but most importantly, and front yard and back yard for their daughter to play in.

“It’s exciting and I’m glad because I get to run around a lot more than I could in our old house.

Christophy says the family has been moving in and out of different homes and its been hard getting his daughter situated. But Now that they’ve received the keys to their brand new home, the entire family is all smiles about finally having a place to call their own.
