LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Lowndes County Man has been missing for 3 weeks now and his family desperately wants answers.

“I just want to know he’s safe and he’s not cold or hungry. I just want him here,” says Jennifer Vanhaaften.

Jennifer Vanhaaften is beyond worried about her husband, Chris, who has not been seen or heard from in 3 weeks.
She says he has struggled with mental health issues and drug use, but has never been gone this long.

“Trying to get him some mental health, be there for him, that’s what he needs.”

Chris has 4 daughters, Jennifer has not found a way to tell the youngest three, that he may not be coming home.

“The blonde one right there, she’s just crazy about her daddy.”

She says on the night he disappeared, he was not acting like himself.

“He called me, telling me he was going to burn his car and he was sitting in it. I went out there to basically save him, and when I got there the car was in a blaze.”

She picked up and brought him to this gas station. He jumped out the car and ran off into the woods, that was the last time she saw him.

Now, she has a message she hopes he hears ….

“I love him, and I want him to come home, we’ll work through any problem that we have, so we can be there together for our kids.”>

The Lowndes County Sheriff’s department says they are following all leads in the case.

If anyone has information on Chris’s where abouts please contact the Lowndes County Sheriff’s department.
