FBI Recognizes Three Ole Miss Officers

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — The FBI is recognizing three University of Mississippi police officers for their work on the Meredith statue vandalism case.

Capt. Jane Tutor, Lt. Jeremy Cook, and Sgt. Shayla McGuire received certificates in a special ceremony, Wednesday, near the James Meredith statue on campus.

Their work helped the FBI arrest three former Ole Miss students in the vandalism of the statue last year.

Officers say they’re glad they could help with the investigation.

“Me being from here, me being an African-American former student from here and I graduated from here, it means a lot to be a part of something special that this campus has got going on,” Cook said.

Graeme Phillip Harris pled guilty to using a threat of force to intimidate African-American students and employees.

Austin Reed’s guilty plea is pending, and the third former student hasn’t yet been charged.
