COLUMBUS, Miss. ( WCBI) — Columbus School District now has a staff directory, all thanks to one outstanding middle school student.

Hunter Perrigin is this month’s ” Caught in the Act” student.

The program rewards students who get caught doing good deeds without being asked.

Hunter has been a role model for other students because of his commitment to success.

He recently won the Lowndes County Spelling Bee and will compete in regionals.

He got to be superintendent for a day and learned more about the district while giving advice on how they could improve, and took it on himself to create one directory for the whole district so parents could become more involved.

” I guess somebody has to put their foot out there, you know? And maybe pave the way for other students, because if I can motivate one person or you know however many, I feel that I’ve done something good, you know? And I think that I have motivated people, ” says Perrigin.

Hunter  says having a support system also helps, he credits his family and school administrators for keeping him on track.
