EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) — Firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed several buildings in downtown Eupora.

Webster County officials tell WCBI the fire started around 5:30 p.m., Saturday. Firefighters from several counties responded, and it took them awhile to get it under control. The blaze destroyed three buildings on Fox and Dunn Streets in downtown Eupora, and threatened others.

“The fact that half the businesses on our street are gone now affects us because not only are they advertisers, but they’re good faithful neighbors and it’s just really tough at the moment, I guess,” says Joseph McCain, Publisher for the Webster Progress.

Several buildings near the fire are without power. Officials still don’t know what caused the blaze. No injuries have been reported.
