Video: Fire Reported At Old KiOR Plant

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Firemen quickly knock down a fire at the old KiOR site, on the island, in Columbus.

Columbus Fire Department spokesman Anthony Colom says hot embers fell in a hopper where dust is collected.

Colom says firefighters were able to put out the small fire.

It’s unclear who owns the property.

Colom says workers were dismantling some equipment with torches, and that’s most likely how the fire started.

KiOR sat idle for two years on the 25 acre site.

Equipment at the former bio-fuels plant was being sold and dismantled.
