First Meeting To Plan Starkville’s Future

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A community meeting on Starkville’s future is taking the place of the board of aldermen’s meeting on Tuesday evening.

The comprehensive planning session is one of several that will be held over the next six to eight months.

A consulting firm is doing an analysis on the city. It will now get community input and ideas on its findings.

The goal is to have a 25 year plan for Starkville and the direction residents would like to see it grow.

“It will touch on economic issues. It will touch on planning and development issues. It will touch on population trends and all the things that go on in the life of a city,” said Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman.

Wiseman says he wants a plan residents can take ownership of and be a catalyst to improve the city.
