First Responders Come To Aid Of Storm Victims

NEW HOPE, Miss. (WCBI) — After a tornado barreled it’s way through New Hope and into Alabama, Lowndes County deputies and other first responders worked late into the night helping residents that were affected.

Sheriff Mike Arledge said the majority of damage is in the Lakeover subdivision, as well as the Lake Lowndes area.

Arledge said most damage is to home and vehicles struck by toppling trees and severe winds.  No injuries were reported.

Arledge was also very pleased with the response by county emergency teams.  “We were prepared…”, said the Sheriff, “…had everybody in place and everybody responded very well.”

Arledge also mentioned how “blessed” he felt when reporting no injuries in the area.

Electrical crews are still working to repair downed power lines in the area.
