First Responders to Hold Fundraiser at Columbus McDonald’s

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Some Columbus first responders are raising money to help two of their own.

Both police officers and firefighters will hold a fundraiser Thursday at the Columbus McDonald’s on Highway 45 North from 5 until 8 p.m.

A percentage of the money raised will support two police officers who recently had a heart attack and a stroke.

Their coworkers say they’re happy to help out.

“It means the world to us in your time of need, when you have a brother or a sister that is in need,” said Officer Rhonda Sanders, Columbus police department. “We come together as a family. We are a family. We protect and we serve.”

Sanders says the police department will also hold a benefit for the officers at the Trotter Convention Center on October 30.
