Flood Warnings Issued for Some Area Rivers, Streams

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Steady rains have drenched the region and more are on the way. That’s prompted flood warnings for several waterways in Northeast Mississippi and West Alabama.

The National Weather Service predicts that late Saturday and into Monday, areas along the Tombigbee, Buttahatchie, Luxapillila, and Noxubee Rivers from Amory to Macon and Pickensville will top their flood stages by from one to four feet.

Most of the flooding is expected to only be in the minor levels but experts warn that low-lying areas along the smaller rivers and creeks could pose a hazard.
