BOONEVILLE, Miss.–  At a called meeting of the Northeast Mississippi Community College Board of Trustees today, executive vice president Ricky G. Ford of Booneville was named the tenth president of the school effective July 1, 2015.

Ford, a 1975 graduate of Northeast, joined the Northeast staff as the head women’s basketball coach in 1981.  During his time at Northeast, Ford also served as an admissions counselor, athletic director and dean of students before being named executive vice president.

Ford takes over for Dr. Johnny L. Allen who recently announced plans to retire.

“I count President Ford a trusted friend and colleague,” Allen said.  “I know that his love for Northeast will be the foundation for a successful tenure as president.  This is an event which we all can celebrate.”

A veteran educator, Ford served as a teacher and head basketball coach at Booneville High School before accepting his first position at Northeast.

“I am deeply honored that the Board has the confidence in me to entrust me with the huge responsibility of leading Northeast into a new era,” Ford said.  “I am looking forward to the next few months as we begin forming plans to do just that.”
