Former County Worker Claims Conspiracy Cost Him Job

HOUSTON,MS (WCBI) – An unsuccessful candidate in the Chickasaw County sheriffs race says he lost his job because he refused to drop out of the race.
Lamon Griggs is suing the county saying he was let go after 15 years of working as a grant writer, bailiff and solid waste officer because he refused repeated requests by supervisors to end his independent run for sheriff..  The lawsuit clams at various times at least 3 supervisors all told him it would be best if he dropped out and let the Democratic nominee and ultimate winner James Meyers get the job unopposed.  Griggs says in September he was called to a board meeting and told his job was being eliminated because the county no longer had grant money to pay him.  The suit goes on to say the Chancery Clerk even offered to absorb Griggs’ salary and benefits into her budget but supervisors would not let that take place. His last day on the job was earlier this month.
