Former Ecru Officer Seeks Trial Delay

ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) – A former Ecru police officer has asked a federal judge to delay his Oct. 29 trial on charges of taking money from people during traffic stops.

Jody Mac Rock of Pontotoc was indicted in late May and faces up to two years in prison and $500,000 fine or both, if convicted.

Federal court documents say on two occasions Rock demanded money in lieu of writing a traffic citation.

The indictment states both persons were deprived of their constitutional right to be free of unreasonable search and seizure.

Rock has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The request for a delay in the trial says his lawyers are involved in “ongoing discussions” with prosecutors.
