Video: Former Omnova Plant Catches Fire

COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) Minimal damage is reported after a fire broke out at the former Omnova Plant. It happened at the facility around 3:45 p.m Wednesday at the facility located on Yorkville Road in Columbus.

Anthony Colom with Columbus Fire and Rescue says it appears the fire began in the air conditioning duct.

Site workers were using a torch, when dust and insulation in the vent above caught fire. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

No one was injured.
