LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A former Caledonia soccer coach is indicted for having sex with a 17-year-old student.

Marco Suarez, 30, was arraigned today in Lowndes County Circuit Court on charges of sexual battery and enticement of a child. He was ordered held on $50,000 bond pending a Nov. 18 trial date.

He was arrested in May after a 17-year-old female student reported the alleged efforts by the coach who also taught Spanish. The student told investigators the teacher’s friendly text and Facebook messages became more and more sexual. She says she eventually went to his house where an assault allegedly occurred.

A judge previously determined there was enough evidence to warrant criminal charges and the grand jury’s indictment was revealed today.
