UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Some New Albany residents took a trip back in time where Indians dominated Mississippi and much of the state was covered in water.

The Union County Heritage Museum hosted a fossil road show that featured paleontologists and geologists from all over the state.

From thousand year old arrow heads created by Indians to rock fossils found in Northeast Mississippi rivers, children and their parents got to see first hand history from their hometown.

One museum goer and her five-year-old daughter even brought their own object in to see if it has a story.

“She’s really enjoyed it. We brought in one of our finds that we found in our backyard and it turned out to be a three thousand hoe. Had no idea and then she got to crack open a geo and it’s been a lot of fun,” says Jennifer Hurd.

Some collectors gave short presentations on their collection.
