LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — What began as a party New Year’s Day turned into a criminal investigation where authorities say several people were robbed, beaten or run over by a car.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says 18-year-old Ariel Griffin and 22-year-old Tierra Goree are both charged with robbery for their roles in the incident.

24-year-old William Blake Griffin and 18-year-old Audriana Griffin are each charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Sheriff Johnson says the party took place at Richey’s Apartments in the Auburn community. Initially, one victim was allegedly robbed by Griffin and Goree, then the victim was beaten and stabbed.

The sheriff says two other people came to assist the first victim, one of them was hit by a car, the other was stabbed.

“We’re still unclear now if there were drugs or alcohol involved,” Johnson said. “That’s still something we’re looking at. Our main concern that night was trying to take care of the victim that was severely beaten and assaulted and suffered some severe life-threatening injuries. So, once that was determined that he got his medical aid, we started trying to unravel the pieces and when you have this many people together in an environment like we were dealing with sometimes it makes it very difficult.”

Bond for all four suspects was set at $25,000 each. Johnson says more charges are expected on other individuals in this case.
