STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A group of Arkansas fraternity brothers hit the road this weekend, all for a good cause.

Several members of Arkansas State’s, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, traveled around 250 miles on bikes to raise awareness for POTS Disease.

The illness affects your heart rate upon standing up and impacts more than one million people in the United States.

The trip was around 20 hours from Jonesboro, Arkansas to the PKA house in Starkville.

Organizer, Chandler Rogers, says he wanted to raise money and awareness in honor of his sister, who was diagnosed with POTS recently.

“As of now, there is not a cure for the illness and we wanted to raise awareness for maybe a mom or a dad out there whose child is suffering from this illness and they don’t know it yet, so maybe through what they hear from us and the awareness it gets, maybe they’ll get the diagnosis they’ve been looking for,” said PKA member and Arkansas State student, Chandler Rogers.

The group has raised around $5,000 and their goal is $10,000.

There is a Go Fund Me donation account set up for the group.
