Free Rides For Some Winona Grocery Shoppers

WINONA, Miss. (WCBI) – Winona and church leaders are teaming up to help elderly and disabled residents buy groceries after Super Value Foods caught fire this past week.

People can meet at Winona City Hall two days a week.

The Ministerial Alliance has teamed to make sure this happens, by allowing vans or buses from various churches to be used.

Shoppers will be taken to Greenlee’s Shop Rite in Kilmichael, two times a day on the designated days, to buy their groceries.

“To help the people is what we are going to do, also the Bank of Kilmichael has said they will cash checks at no fee,” said Winona Mayor Jerry Flowers.

“We will use our transportation at no cost to the city to transport the citizens of Winona to get groceries and pay their bills and whatever they need to do,” said Pastor Mark Williamson.

The city, Winona Main Street – Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, and Ministerial Alliance are sponsoring this free program.
