Video: Fund Set Up for Injured Lowndes Co. Deputies

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. – (WCBI)The community can now help two Lowndes County deputies recover, after being shot earlier in the week.

A benefit fund has been set up for Lt. Clint Sims and Lt Larry Swearingen.

Donations can be made at any Cadence Bank branch. Money collected will help pay for all medical expenses.

Both Sims and Swearingen remain in the hospital. Sims, who is expected to be released in a few days, was shot in the thigh. Swearingen, however, may be hospitalized for a while longer as he heals from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The deputies were shot, after responding to a welfare check in the Drake Circle neighborhood.

The suspected gunmen, Kenneth Coscia, remains behind bars.
