NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) — It was a beautiful weekend to learn about gardening.

And people with green thumbs headed to the Union County Fairgrounds for the 7th annual New Albany Home and Garden Show sponsored by the Master Gardeners of Union County. President Pat James says there was something for everybody at the two day event. And he says this spring the heavy rains have put a damper on planting.

“They can’t get in the fields. They can’t get them planted,” he says. “They tell you not to really turn the soil over until you’re ready to plant because you’ll lose a lot of nutrients. It’s made it tough this year but they still have enough time to get it in, we’re not past that point but it’s going to be a tough year,” he concludes.

James says most people like to get their gardens in by April 15th. And he says he thinks the weather is going to be more cooperative.
