Update: Gas Line Damaged In Amory

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – An Amory strip mall had to be closed down, and a few homes evacuated as crews repaired a gas line.

EMA Director Bunky Goza says a contractor bore through the line earlier Monday.

Police Chief Ronnie Bowen tells WCBI now all residents are allowed back into their homes, and the strip mall businesses should be open as usual, Tuesday.

Bowen says Cotton Gin Port Road from Highway 278 to Ritter Road will stay closed.

He’s not sure how long the road will be shut down.
