COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — One of the hot political topics in the state right now is school choice.

Governor Phil Bryant is pushing strong for this during his second term.

School choice is about parents having the choice to send their children to school where they want them to go, public or private schools.

This is important to the governor because it’s a win-win situation for families and schools.

“What parents should have the right to do is take their hard earned tax dollars and their child and send them to a school of their choice. We should be competing for for students so the best schools can win, so they’ll all better,” says Governor Bryant.

Governor Bryant says Mississippi’s product should be a great education.

He also says that with school choice it will help schools be more competitive.

Some issues with the topic is education advocates feels like this would help wealthier districts and hurt less privileged ones.
