Grant May Lead to Bigger Things at GTRA
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A federal grant could literally pave the way for Golden Triangle Regional Airport to one day day handle even larger planes.
The $388,549 airport improvement grant will seal the 1,500-foot runway extension that was completed two years ago. The grant also will pay for design work on repaving the original 6,500-foot runway and widening runway turnoffs so larger planes can navigate from the runway to the terminal.
That project is estimated to cost about $2.5 million but has not yet been funded.
