TUPELO – A community development block grant could help the Lee County Board of Supervisors pay for road improvements in the South Lee Industrial Park.

The improvements will increase access to a former Morgan Fabrics plant in Verona recently acquired by Ashley Furniture.

The Lee County Board of Supervisors voted to apply for the $165,673 grant that they would put toward the $184,081 cost of the road improvements.

Ashley has pledged to make a $200,000 company investment in the expansion and create 60 new jobs.

The plant will produce mattresses and sofa sleepers and house a customer support center.
