Columbus/Starkville/West Point, Miss. ––The Executive Director of the Golden Triangle Regional Airport confirmed that the FBI arrested two individuals as they attempted to board a flight to Atlanta early Saturday morning, August 8th.
“This was a well-planned and well-executed operation by the FBI,” said Executive Director Mike Hainsey. “They were extremely professional and went out of their way to apprehend the people without putting passengers or employees at risk.”
The two were arrested inside the terminal and never came close to the aircraft. Passengers on the flight were not aware of the operation.
“This is proof that the system works,” said Hainsey. “Our law enforcement agencies worked together to ensure the safety of our passengers.”
The Golden Triangle Regional Airport is located in northeast Mississippi and serves the communities of Columbus, Starkville, and West Point.
