Gulfport Seabees Ebola-Free; Quarantine Lifted

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) – A spokeswoman says 15 Gulfport Seabees who built a treatment center in Liberia all are free of the Ebola virus and have been released from military quarantine at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.

Athena Blain tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/1tXJWKE) the members of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion133 were released Thursday morning, after 21 days in isolation in case any had been infected.

They had spent seven weeks in Liberia.

Blain said Thursday that administrative procedures would take a day or two.

She says she does not know where the unit will go next, but Spain or Djibouti seems likely. Blain says the unit was headed to one of those countries before being sent to Liberia.
