COLUMBUS, MISS. (WCBI) – – Shotguns were found behind an empty house on 19th Street South in Columbus.
Thanks to an alert citizen, Columbus Police Department were able to find the guns and get them off the streets.

“We received an anonymous tip from an alert citizen that saw someone placing two weapons in the back of an abandoned building. We arrived on the scene and were able to locate two sawed-off shotguns that could possibly be used in a crime, so again, whoever that citizen is we want to say thank you for what you’ve done, and we want other people, when you see things of a suspicious nature, something that might could hurt someone else, call us, so that’s two weapons that won’t be able to hurt anybody and we’re happy about that,” said Interim Police Chief, Fred Shelton.

The sawed-off shot guns were discovered around two this afternoon.
