GUNTOWN, Miss. (WCBI) — Two Tippah County residents and one Guntown resident are facing drug-related charges after arrests in two separate cases.

Guntown police arrested 29-year-old Dumas man Brandon Smith and 36-year-old Ripley woman Lea Hurt Wednesday following a traffic stop.

During the stop, officers reportedly discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the pair’s vehicle.

Both were charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute; Smith and Hurt were detained on $25,000 bonds.

In a separate case, a traffic stop conducted Thursday in Guntown yielded another drug arrest.

47-year-old Guntown woman Kim West was initially stopped for improper equipment.

West was allegedly driving with a suspended license, and also had an active warrant out for her arrest. She was arrested for the warrant and misdemeanor traffic violations.

While being booked into the Lee County Jail, officers discovered a “large amount of methamphetamine” on West’s person.

She received an additional possession of meth with intent to distribute charge.

West is currently detained on a $50,000 bond.
