FULTON, Miss. — Dr. Janae Ferguson Hagan of Saltillo has been selected as the 2015 William Winter Scholar for Itawamba Community College.

She will represent ICC at the award-winning 26th annual Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration, Feb. 26-28. The country’s most prominent writers, scholars and filmmakers will be featured at this year’s celebration, “Bigger Than Life: Extraordinary Mississippians.”

Hagan was selected by ICC President Mike Eaton for her contributions to the Humanities Division of the College.

A native of Bruce, Hagan, who is a psychology instructor, began working at ICC in August 2004 and has been employed full-time since January 2005. Previously she served as adjunct psychology instructor at Alabama Southern Community College and speech pathologist for Wilcox (Ala.) School and Saltillo Elementary.

She earned the associate’s degree from ICC, the bachelor’s degree from Mississippi University for Women and both the master’s and doctorate degrees from Mississippi State University. Hagan will also be honored this spring as ICC’s Mississippi Humanities Council Teacher award recipient. Her other activities and awards include the NISOD Excellence in Teaching award, MidSouth Community College Fellowship Program, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society advisor for almost 10 years and a member of the ICC Honors Council and the Faculty Association (secretary for two years) and the American Psychological Association. Hagan is a member of the Saltillo First Baptist Church. She and her husband, Drew, are the parents of one daughter, Juliana.
