COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Its another great cause across the area this holiday season, as “Hands Across Columbus” held it’s annual feeding for the community.

“We have the opportunity to go out and give people hope,” said founder Liz Robinson.

Brett and Liz Robinson have done it again for the 6th year in a row, making new holiday memories for those in need.

“This is called celebration of hope 2012 and that’s my heart, to bring hope to a lot of people out there that are hurting this year,” added Liz.

The project Hands Across Columbus has dozens of volunteers getting their hands dirty to support the cause. They began packing food early in the morning and will donate over 4 thousand meals when they’re finished.

“This is our 6th year doing it so we’re starting to get a bit of pattern and a flow going so it’s getting easier every year we do it. It’s an enjoyable process,” said co-founder Brett Robinson.

Volunteers gathered in the gym at Hunt Intermediate School and divided into teams to personally deliver the meals throughout the community. Some student pilots among the volunteers were thrilled to be a part of such a cause.

“It’s kinda inspiring to have Major Robinson and his wife here. They’re like we have to help out but we don’t know how, lets try this and it’s obviously grown a lot since then, it’s just really cool,” said volunteer pilot Katie Finnegan.

“We’re trying to make a difference in our economy and we’re trying to help people that can’t buy anything and it feels actual really good because it’s part of our community,” added another volunteer Leagh Yates.

All the food and supplies were donated to the project.
