TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Downtown Tupelo will never be the same as a new restaurant officially opens its doors this week.
But many area residents got a sneak preview of the Mugshots experience this weekend.

Having a good time, that is what Mugshots Grill and Bar is all about.

The spacious restaurant adorned with big screen TV’s presents an inviting atmosphere where families and friends can hang out for good food good drink and good conversation. Ben Robbins and his brother are co-owners who several years ago thought about bringing the Mugshots experience to downtown Tupelo.

“Well we hope it’s going to be a great impact on downtown,” he notes. “We’re really looking forward to helping the downtown area grow and we’re excited about it my brother and I. The turnout we’ve had this weekend has just been outrageous. I’m still blown away by the support we’ve had and the people that have turned out and it’s just great,” Robbins concludes.

And Robbins said they used this weekend to train their crews with live customers, with all the proceeds going to the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society.

“We’re all animal lovers and we just thought it would be a real good charity to give and they’re trying to build a new animal shelter here in town and we just thought it was good timing to try to help the animal shelter out some,” Robbins says.

And Tupelo Lee Humane Society Executive Director Donna Jarrell is very appreciative.

“They approached us when they decided to build this Mugshots and asked us if we’d be interested in partnering in this event and of course we were very excited about it so this is a great fundraiser a lot of good publicity for us as well,” she says.

Jarrell says they have raised 1-point-9 million of the 2-point-5 million dollar project and she believes this weekend’s event will raise about 20-thousand dollars.

The invitation only soft-open was packed out all three days Brad Crawley brought his little league baseball team.

“The food is real wonderful, ” he concludes. “The service is good also. And we brought a large crowd so they’re getting broken in right.”

And surveying the menu, there is a burger called the Mugshot. You will have to see it to understand why it is the signature burger of Mugshots.

And if you can eat it in twelve minutes, they’ll give it to you for free. Otherwise, it cost you 22-dollars. Either way you won’t go home hungry.

The official opening for the general public will be on Tuesday.
