Video: Head Start Classes Suspended

WINONA, Miss. (WCBI) — Parents in several area counties are scrambling after Head start classes in several locations are abruptly cancelled.

Head start and early Head start classes in Montgomery, Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Holmes and Webster have all been suspended.

According to a letter delivered to parents, Central Mississippi Incorporated has been suspended as the operator of the program in those counties.

Community Development Institute Head start based in Denver Colorado has been appointed to take over operations of the Head Start Program in the affected counties.

The new operators say they are working as quickly as possible to restore classes but must first hire staff members, find new vendors as well as receive state approval to operate child care centers.

The letter did not disclose the reason why Central Mississippi Incorporated was suspended from the program.
