Hearing Set For Houlka Officer

CHICKASAW COUNTY, MS (WCBI) – A Houlka policeman could find out Monday if he will face charges in connection with a confrontation with a local resident earlier this month.   Houlka resident Charlissa Griffin filed simple assault charges against Blake Westmoreland after her arrest on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges.  Griffin became disruptive during a court hearing involving her brother.  After going outside police say Griffin continued to act disorderly and was cuffed.  She claims Westmoreland was too rough during her arrest and filed the assault charges against him.   State law requires a judge to hear evidence when an officer or a teacher is charged with a crime to determine if the charges are warranted.   That hearing will take place Monday in Houston
