Heat Dangers Inside the Car
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Every year we hear about children being left inside vehicles and dying from the extreme heat.
This year alone, 22 children have died after being left in a car on a hot day. In a matter of 15 minutes, the temperature in your car can rise from 70 to 110 degrees. While most of these accidents happen when someone goes inside of the store for a few minutes it can also happen at home.
“This guy, he left his daughter in the car, forgot about his cell phone and realized that he gave his daughter in the backseat the cell phone to play with. He went out there and he’d left his daughter in the car,” says Steve Loden with the Columbus Fire Department.
The Fire Department suggests putting a purse or other valuable item in the backseat to ensure you don’t leave your child in the car.
