Highway 182 Work Will Be ‘Sight for Sore Eyes’

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Fans arriving for Mississippi State football and basketball games late this fall will have a little smoother road to the stadiums.

Columbus-based Falcon Construction is about 40 percent through a $2.8 million project to pave, curb and gutter Highway 182 from Stark Road to Highway 12 in Starkville. The project includes new turn lanes at the busy entrance to the ward Stewart Henderson school complex. New landscaping area will be installed by the city to greet the 10,000 cars a day that use the road.

And eventually, the city hopes to obtain more grants for sidewalks as part of a broad effort to beautify one of its major entrances.

The repaving should be completed by November if the weather cooperates.
