[PRESS RELEASE]

BOONEVILLE, Miss. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating a two-vehicle crash in Prentiss County that claimed the life of a Booneville woman. Troopers responded to the intersection of County Road 5031 and MS 30, just south of Booneville, at approximately 9am.

Upon arriving it appeared Deanna C Leslie, 25, of Booneville, was traveling north on County Road 5031, in a 1988 Chevrolet, when she apparently failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of a west bound 2015 Mack Semi-Tractor/Trailer, operated by James D Kirk, 67, of Fulton.

Kirk was uninjured in the crash. He was hauling logs.

Leslie was airlifted to NMMC in Tupelo with life threatening injuries.

Courtney S Owens, 22, of Booneville, died from injuries sustained in the crash. She was a passenger in Leslie’s vehicle.

Neither Leslie nor her passenger were wearing a seatbelt. Both were ejected from their vehicle during the crash.
