COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Dozens of locals shopping for Christmas presents also got to support a good cause.

On Saturday, Hope Community Church and the Columbus YMCA sponsored the first “Hope for the Holidays” holiday market.

Several local choirs performed, while shoppers browsed different items area venders and artists were selling.

Church organizers say this event is a way to give back to the community during the holidays.

The event raised about $1500 for the Hearts After-School Tutoring Program.

Church members say they plan to host another holiday market again next year, and hope it’s even bigger.
