Homeless Rate Drops in Mississippi

Jackson, Miss. (AP)- The homeless population has decreased nationally and in Mississippi over the past year.

The number of people homeless dropped nearly 11 percent in Mississippi, according to a study done by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

A coordinator for the Mississippi Balance of State organization, says 3 point 2 million dollars was used to make a dent in the homeless population.

The homeless population in Mississippi has declined each year since 2009.

Nationwide, the homeless rate dropped 2 percent.
